FAQ
What do you charge?
The all important question! But, alas, I will not answer that here.
Although I do have an
affordable hourly rate, I prefer to be contacted directly to give it
out. Also, I am willing to work
with a client if I feel like I can lower my rate for your project. But,
I am affordable. As well, I do
not charge different prices for different tasks. If you want database
design, custom CGI programming,
website redesign or software installed you will pay the same hourly
fee. I don't believe that my time is
magically worth more based on the task.
Do you do flat fees?
I take that on a case to case basis. However, I tend to like hourly pay
rather than a flat fee for
medium to large projects. Need a simple form for your users to send you
feedback? I could likely
do a reasonable flat rate. If you want a custom Control Panel designed
with 20 different features, I'd
prefer hourly.
Why? Because I have found that when using hourly rates there is less of
a chance of myself or the
client ending up in a bad situation. When a programmer accepts a flat
rate for a large project, and the
client changes the entire spec in the middle of the job it can create
an odd situation. On the other hand,
when it is hourly a client can change their minds all they want! As
well, being hourly allows me to be
more flexible and actually undercharge. Imagine that! Getting 15 hours
of work and only paying for 12!
Hmmm.. I'm not sure that I should advertise that I sometimes do that.
But, sometimes I do like to test
a few extra times, or make code more efficient. As I said, I'm ethical
and reasonable.
You can contact me with your project, and we could then discuss what we
both feel comfortable with.
How do I pay you?
I accept checks (or cheques, if you are across the pond), money orders
and PayPal
